Potential 2020 Tax Filing Deadline Extension

Potential 2020 Tax Filing Deadline Extension

No Change to HBE Filing Procedures or Timelines

In response to the coronavirus pandemic and the related impact to U.S. households and businesses, the Trump Administration is considering a potential extension to the income tax filing deadline for 2020.

As we continue to watch how this global pandemic will unfold, HBE would like you to know that we are committed to providing the same timely tax services you know and trust while also taking necessary precautions to protect our employees and our clients. Currently, our team is working on-site to prepare and file tax returns in a “business as normal” manner. We are uncertain that this will continue to be the case in the coming weeks. Therefore, it is in your best interest to submit the information that is necessary to prepare your tax return(s) as soon as possible. Please submit any information you may have in hand now, even if there is additional information you are still waiting on. This will allow us to work on the returns at our offices or from remote employee locations in the event of a quarantine.

Please note that it is not necessary for you to make an appointment to drop off your tax information. If you are unable to drop off your information in person, you can submit it in one of the following ways:

  • Online. From the menu at the top of our website, select “Send Files” then click “Client Documents.”
  • Email. If you have means to send secure email, information can be emailed to clientdocuments@hbecpa.com.
  • Fax. Information can be faxed to our office at (402) 423-4346.

Although the filing deadline may be extended, our intention is to file as many returns as possible by the standard April 15 due date. Unless you have specific circumstances that necessitate delayed filing, we would sincerely appreciate your assistance in helping us meet this target.

We anticipate more information to be released soon regarding a potential filing deadline extension and the related impact to tax payment due dates. We will continue to monitor the status of this issue and provide updates as they become available.
