As a result of Nebraska Initiative 433, Minimum Wage Increase Initiative passed during the November 2022 elections, the Nebraska minimum wage has increased to $10.50 per hour effective January 1, 2023. Nebraska employers must adhere to the updated rate for all wages earned on or after that date.
Further minimum hourly wage rate increases are scheduled to go into effect over the next three calendar years, as well. Those updated rates are as follows:
• $12.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2024
• $13.50 per hour, effective January 1, 2025
• $15.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2026
Beginning January 1, 2027, the minimum wage is proposed to increase based on cost-of-living increases as measured by the Consumer Price Index.
Employers in Nebraska are also required by law to maintain certain labor law posters in locations visible to all employees, including information about the current Nebraska minimum wage. As a result of Initiative 433, such posters should be updated to reflect the current minimum wage.
For further information and clarifications applicable to the updated Nebraska minimum wage, please refer to the Fact Sheet provided by the NE Department of Labor here:
