January 19, 2023 — This week, Lancaster County released updated preliminary 2023 property valuations. Many property owners are seeing an increase in their property tax valuations of 10-30%, according to newly elected Lancaster County Assessor Dan Nolte’s office. Some properties increased even higher than that range.
HBE encourages you to review your updated home or business property valuations while you still have time to act in cases where you feel your valuation is too high.
Lancaster County has a site dedicated to providing information about new property values here: Dan Nolte – Assessor/Register of Deeds | Lancaster County, NE. From this page, you can look up your preliminary 2023 property values to determine if you want to consider a Valuation Review Request or schedule a telephone call with a member of the county appraisal team. In addition, the county distributes an interactive sale map that details comparable sales in the past 12 months.
We encourage all property owners to review their preliminary valuations as soon as possible. Requests for a valuation review or meeting with a staff appraiser must be received by February 1 to ensure a review prior to the finalization of values by March 25.
For additional information, please visit the Register of Deeds website. Should you have any concerns about how the updated property valuation may impact your personal situation, please contact your HBE advisor.
