Nebraska Sales & Lodging Tax Updates

The Nebraska Department of Revenue has announced the following upcoming changes:

  • Effective July 1, 2026:
    • The City of Edgar will increase its local sales and use tax rate from 1% to 1.5%.
    • Blaine County will terminate its 2% county lodging tax. Hotels in Blaine County will continue to collect the 1% state lodging tax.
  • Effective April 1, 2026:
    • The Village of Elm Creek and the City of Wilber will increase their local sales and use tax rates from 1% to 1.5%.
    • There are no changes to lodging tax rates effective April 1, 2026. 

Businesses operating in or serving these areas should review their systems to ensure the correct rates are applied.
